Here at thehighplaces.com, we have been battling with comment spam for a few months. 2-3 week long outages during the election were precipitated by comment spam – even though the comments were held in moderation, the bots kept trying and they overwhelmed the bandwidth I had at mrcheevus.net. Moderation wasn’t cutting it, and I think it was also an obstacle to those who wished to pick a fight with me.
Since I love a good fight, I am trying something new. I have installed AuthCSS, a little plugin that does what blogger.com does: adds a little thingy with an image that you have to replicate to ensure you are not a bot. I know, it is annoying, but I think less annoying that being held in moderation for who knows how long. So comment to your heart’s content: I no longer have moderation turned on: you need only read and type 4 letters to have it posted.

I figured I’d test this out as we both know you can be an incompetent goober at times
.
Seems to be working *gasp in shock*
Hope it helps with the bots.
